Bob McDonald, Director of Sales
Bob brings to Moodlerooms 20 years of experience in education and technology. From developing strategic marketing plans for technology firms to teaching students history at an inner-city Baltimore high school, Bob’s experience in both the corporate and educational sectors enhances Moodlerooms' ability to be knowledgeable and highly responsive to clients. Prior to Moodlerooms, Bob used Moodle extensively to facilitate student learning and achieve organizational goals as department chair at an independent school. He was also co-founder of Thinking Distance, Inc., a nonprofit company designed to provide access to the benefits of Moodle.
Marketing
Judson Aungst, Marketing Director
An experienced Web, product and event marketing professional, Judson has worked in the many facets of marketing with start-ups and corporations. As the Marketing Director at Moodlerooms, he is responsible for engaging a passionate community of users and promoting Moodlerooms services. Before coming to Moodlerooms, Judson worked for Internet Strategy Group (ISG), a cutting-edge Internet marketing firm in the Baltimore area. While at ISG, Judson worked on e-mail marketing, SEO and social networking for a diverse group of clients, including Sylvan Learning Centers, Laureate Education and the YMCA. Judson looks forward applying his experience in marketing to expanding the opportunities that Moodlerooms can provide education, corporations, nonprofits and government.
Jessie Merryman, Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator
Jessie is a resourceful writer/editor with several years of experience in various professional communication fields, including media, public relations and marketing. Prior to joining Moodlerooms, she assisted with marketing and sales efforts at a leading provider of online media solutions that served many fortune 500 companies. During that time, she also freelanced as a contributing writer for the popular Web site of a national magazine for young teen girls, as well as contributed advertising copy to a local, private-owned restaurant group. Jessie has a bachelor's degree in English from Stevenson University, where she also previously worked as a public relations assistant. Her passion for words and her well-rounded expertise will help mold Moodlerooms' communications as the company continues to grow.
Customer Support
Andy Braden, Director of Customer Relations
Prior to joining Moodlerooms and after earning a certificate in GIS and Remote Sensing at Humboldt State University, Andy was a volunteer in the HSU Geography Department's Advanced Cartography Lab, where he primarily taught Adobe CS2 and Flash Studio 8 techniques. Prior to volunteering, he worked for GLOBEtrotter/Macrovision for 4 years, where he quickly advanced through the ranks from entry-level support, to lead support engineer for end users, to eventually working in the Professional Services Group, where he provided training and on-site consultations for FLEXlm implementations and end user deployments as well as made recommendations for server hardware and network architecture. Andy has a Bachelor of Science degree from Humboldt State University and a master's degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Davis.
Lesli Smith
Prior to joining Moodlerooms, Lesli Smith was a secondary school English teacher whose roles varied widely over her twelve-year teaching career. In addition to her role as a teacher, she was a school librarian, a boarding school dorm adviser, an activities coordinator, a National Honor Society Adviser, and a school Moodle administrator and trainer. From 2003-2008, Lesli also served as a Moodle Mentor at facultyroom.org, the community incubator project for the current Moodlerooms Community. The 2007-2008 school year was Lesli's fifth year using Moodle, and it significantly revolutionized her teaching practice. She is extremely enthusiastic about sharing this revolution with others.
IT
Christopher Roy, IT Director
For eight years, Christopher was a senior software developer and system administrator for Vision Multimedia Technologies, LLC. Developing in C, C++, C#, Java, Perl and PHP, he led numerous development projects, crafting complex Web applications with clean human interfaces. His extensive work in Linux, Solaris, Windows and AIX and his deep knowledge of MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and DB2 make him a powerful contributor to the various integrations, customizations and API work requested by Moodlerooms clients.
Customization Services
Michael Penney, Managing Director for Moodlerooms, Western Region
From 1996 to 2007, Michael developed and administered online learning projects at Humboldt State University’s Courseware Development Center. In December 2006, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation recognized Michael’s team for its development contributions to the Moodle learning management system and awarded the team with a $100,000 Mellon Award for Technology Collaboration. For the past two years, Michael has built and led a team that has implemented major development and integration projects for Intel Education, Cisco® Entrepreneur Institute, Google, Novell, City College of San Francisco, and many other institutions.
Jason Hardin, Project Manager
Jason currently serves as the Project Manager for Moodlerooms's Moodle development department. Prior to Moodlerooms, Jason worked for six years as a Programmer/Project Manager at Humboldt State University, where he worked to complete HSU's Mellon project, co-authored the first Moodle course on how to develop for Moodle, and implemented a solid Moodle development, testing and documentation process for student developers. Jason earned his MBA and Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Humboldt State University in 2002.
